When can I check out books?
The library is open daily from 8:30 am - 2:45 pm, but is closed while the librarian has her lunchtime. Check the schedule on the door for that time as it is different each day. Students may come with their teacher's permission, 2 at a time, during open hours. Teachers should call ahead if they wish to bring the entire class.
How many books can I check out?
1st - 4th grade students may check out 2 books, preferably one fiction and one non-fiction. 5th graders may check out 3 books: 1 fiction, 1 non-fiction, and 1 science (a call number in the 500s). Teachers and staff members may check out up to 100 books at a time.
I think I lost my library book. What do I do?
First, look everywhere you can imagine - your back pack, your classroom, your desk, and even under your bed at home. Ask your teacher to have the students in your classroom check their desks as well. If you haven't found it visit the library for a print out that will include the title and price of the book. Then, look again in all of the same places and a few more. If you don't find it you will need to pay for it. Come to the library so we can talk about how we handle this, but generally payments are made in the form or cash or check.
What if my book is overdue?
While an overdue book isn't a huge problem for you, it is one you need to take care of. Bring your overdue book to the library where you can check it out again or return it for a new book. There are no fines for overdue books.
May I bring food into the library?
Sorry - no food, drinks, gum, or candy are allowed in the library. You'll have to save those treats for another time.
